Finance Review: July 2021

Business as usual even in quarantine.

There’s been a surge of new cases in China, and Beijing has implemented quarantine protocol for anyone travelling in from certain areas. I returned from one of those, Zhangjiajie, and thus I’m now in a 14 day at-home quarantine. Not the original plan I had for my summer break but it is what it is.

Spendings Report: $2,897

Hey, I’m on break 🙂

The cost of the trip took up close to $1.6k and the rest of my spending looked pretty normal. Bouldering continue to bring me great joy and render great suffering unto my wallet. I also had two dental fillings so that was costly. Take care of your teeth kids, insurance rarely covers them.

Net Worth Update:

One more month until the final finance review of this school year and I’m quite pleased. My original aim for this school year was $160k, and $170k was the stretch goal, however, it looks like I will be somewhere in the 180’s by next month.

I would like to celebrate with a trip to IKEA 🙂 I don’t have anything in mind to buy, I just really like that place haha! Maybe when I cross $200k I’ll actually buy something from there.

Next school year, I want to be done funding my retirement at 65. Every extra dollar I save on top of that will bring my Financial Independence date forward. At that point, I’ll have to put up with no one else’s bullshit except my own.
