Welcome, new readers!
This month saw a spike in visitors to this site, yay! For new folks, keep your expectations low because 99% of my posts are just monthly finance reports.
When my master’s is done, I’d like to film some video content because that’s what I like to watch so stay around on the small chance I carry through with this goal :)))
Spendings Report: $1,342
Back to my new normal!
Recently I’ve begun to slowly upgrade my wardrobe, so the clothing category will be more than before. I try to be conscientious and look for quality so it’s a couple of items at a time. I wish China has charity shops or second-hand clothing stores because if even brand new stuff is cheap, then used should be even cheaper! There are some vintage thrift stores, however, they do not fit my AeStHeTic. (Math Gremlin™).
Leisure continues to be my biggest money sink, which is not a surprise since living expenses are low and I don’t pay rent. Bouldering is still super-duper fun and if any of you are ever in Beijing let me know, I’ll take you to my favourite gym!
Out of curiosity, I checked how much I spend on food, and it’s about $600 monthly. This includes everything I eat from groceries to eating out so not bad! Restaurants probably make up 1/3 of my leisure spending haha.
Net Worth Update: so close!
Just a few dozens of $$$ shy of $200,000 but I’ll certainly reach it by year’s end as I had hoped 🙂
Ah, wait…December is tuition month…and holiday/travel season. Hey, $200,001 still counts as reaching my goal, right?
It would be very cool to reach $300k by the time I’m 30. It’s doable based on my life situation right now but I’m also keenly aware I won’t live like this forever. My grandparents are in their mid 70s and I very much want to take a sabbatical year to spend time with them. You can always earn more money but you can’t buy more time with people you love.
That’s awesome you are so close to your savings goal!! Do you plan to take your sabbatical year soon? Would you consider doing a post about your plans during the sabbatical? Like would you mostly stay in China or travel to different places.
Thanks for stopping by! Yeah, I definitely would, it’s currently a waiting game for China to open up to international travel again. Leaving China is not a problem but returning here is a headache :/
The plan is to do a couple of months each in Canada, UK, China, visiting friends, then shorter visits to other countries (undecided). When there’s better news about flights I’ll write a more detailed post (and come up with a better plan, haha!) 🙂
