Finance Review: November 2022

Ayooo things are sure happening in China.

There are two speeds here: tomorrow, or forever, usually consecutively.

Spending Report: $1,332

During the 11/11 big sale here in China I bought an entire year’s worth of skincare products at once, that’s why the clothing/beauty category is so large this month. Half of it arrived, and the other half is stuck in transit due to covid. All 6 bottles of my favourite sunscreen is somewhere between Tianjin and Beijing.

Other categories are fairly normal, no big changes there. Next month will be my last tuition payment! Officially it’s the last course required for graduation, but I’m likely to continue taking a few courses afterwards. I would likely enjoy them even more without the pressure of actually needing to pass anything haha. I’m feeling very excited at the prospect of having a new huge chunk of free time, so many things I could do with it! Start drawing, Mandarin classes, go climbing more often, and cook again.

Another bit of exciting news, I’m changing jobs again next year. Still teaching, but with a nice salary boost and a location right in the heart of Beijing. AND 10 minutes away from my third favourite climbing gym! This was the gym where I started learning how to climb, but has crap ventilation and smells like shoes in the summer. I’m already looking at apartment listings 7 months ahead of time.

Net Worth Update: positively cheerful

Feeling very optimistic! There was a goal of reaching 300k by the time I hit 30 but don’t think that’s likely, there’s slightly more than half a year left but my income is not high enough. I’m still very pleased with the progress however, and can see things improving from here on.

I’ll keep on eye on spending the difference in my salary and keep on chugging along 🙂

All the best to you out there this holiday season, take care and make sure to wrap up warm!
