Year of the Dragon is off to a strong start!

I’m gonna be honest, it’s Chinese New Year with my sister finally being able to visit me in China after covid so I spent without looking or thinking. Food, hotels, red pocket money, I did it all. We went to multiple facials and massages and ate at every tourist trap imaginable. I also donated a bunch and gave away a lot, it’s basically a second Christmas/New Year season.
Forecasting ahead, this month’s spending is not likely to go down much. I’ve decided to stay in my current apartment for the next while so I’m upgrading some creature comforts like a proper couch, better kitchen tools etc. etc.
Net Worth Update: GOOOAAAALLLL!!!
5 years ago I set a goal to reach a certain net worth by this time and I’ve met it!!! I’m pleased about it and mildly bewildered that boringly following the plan worked out. Of course, inflation has moved the goal post but I’m choosing to follow the spirit of the original instead of wishing I specified in what years’ dollars. My priorities have also shifted a bit since then and I feel I’m balancing life well right now. For the next 5 years, I don’t know. Hoping I hit half a million I guess? In today’s dollars, I’ll specify haha.
Congratulations on reaching your goal!!! That’s amazing. Also it sounds like you had a good time with your sister – my costs spike when people come to visit too, but I think it’s worth it to experience those things with them. Half a million here you come!!!
