I’ve picked up Mandarin classes!
The free time I’ve gained by finishing my Master’s I’ve now put towards achieving fluency in my mother tongue yay! I’m really enjoying it so far, it helps that I’m now at the level where I can read about 60-70% of online comments and feel like a whole new (internet) world is opening up to me.
Spending Report: $2,266
I’ve put some money aside for some luxury purchases I want to make in the future (a Cartier watch I’ve loved for about 10 years now). I marked it down as having spent the money instead of having saved it because, well, this is my finances and it makes me more comfortable thinking of it as already gone. That way when I finally do buy the watch it won’t feel as painful haha.
There’s a huge bit of unwelcome news though, my teeth are not done with me so in the next couple of months I’m going to be dropping some serious $$$ on dental fixes…like to the tune of $10,000CAD kinda $$$. My right canine never came in and it’s causing misalignment with my teeth and jaw that are impacting the way I chew (and look). It’s not life-threatening however it does impact my quality of life so I’m giving this some serious consideration. I have tried other cheaper alternatives that do mitigate the symptoms but the root cause is my teeth misalignment. A terrifying possibility my orthodontist mentioned is pulling out 3 other teeth (the other canine and two lower teeth) so each quadrant of my mouth is symmetrically missing 1 tooth…if you’re thinking “WTF!” that was my expression too.
Other than my impending loss of teeth everything is proceeding as normal. To fund my upcoming luxury watch and not-so-luxurious dental purchases I’ve picked up extra classes at school. I’m hoping to offset a bit of 1) plane tickets back to Canada, 2) watch, 3) adult braces.
I’ll be moving houses again in roughly a month, and I’m gonna start setting some money aside to get some proper decor/furniture so I can build a place so comfortable my friends will always want to come over. You know those trapdoor spiders that lie in wait for unsuspecting prey? That’s me, lying in wait in my future well-lit living room with a bar cart and comfy sofa for my friends to come by. Once they experience my hospitality game it’ll be too late, they’ll already be over the event horizon for friendship.

Happy to say it’s still steadily going up!
Not much to say about this bit, still doing its thing and I’m super happy it’s no longer repeatedly dropping by the thousands like it was in 2022. Just look at that flat jagged patch near August ’22, what a ride.
