Finance Review: October 2023

We can all read the news and I’m more grateful than ever that I live the life that I do.

Spendings Report: $1944

Confession time: I have hired an ayi (housekeeper) who comes around twice a week; once to meal-prep, and once for general cleaning. Roughly two hours each time and in a month it’s less than $200 CAD. I love her so much. If you live in China and don’t have an ayi, hire one, it changes lives and saves relationships.

Her cooking skills are basic, but I’m a basic girl so it totally works for us. I have her boil eggs and cook 3 different dishes on one day, and she has some time to do a bit of tidying up afterwards. That night I’ll come back and prep all my lunches, snacks (the eggs + some fruits), and breakfasts for the week in about 30min. There’s usually enough leftover that I end up finishing the rest for my dinners with noodles or rice. The other day she comes she does all the other cleaning. I’m generally pretty tidy so everything gets done in 2hrs.

Other spending is more or less normal, with the new addition of Chinese classes and climbing passes again! Climbing is something I definitely want to consciously work on so I’m making an effort to find a new steady group to go with again. I’m happy to report that I can now fumble my way through a Chinese comic meant for a middle schooler so there’s progress! In two years I would like to be able to read a novel, not a heavy one, but a definite novel.

Net Worth Update: upwards again!

I am now where I expected to be two months ago, but better late than never!

My new adjusted goal is to cross that top line on the graph before I turn 31.

Keep warm this season and tell your loved ones you love them!
